This preference arises from the belief that blowing out the flame can disrupt the energy and intention behind the candle magick. This brass candle wick trimmer and snuffer, sometimes called a Box Snuffer, was commonly used from the 1700s until the invention of the self-trimming wick in 1825. These tools were essential for maintaining efficient candle burning, especially before the self-trimming wick revolutionised candle technology.
