Mere-wīf
In Old English and Anglo-Saxon tradition, the term mere-wīf translates as “water-woman” or “sea-woman,” derived from wīf (woman) and mere (sea or lake). This term refers to both mermaids and water-witches, figures believed to possess mystical power over the ocean depths.
This stainless-steel pendant depicts a meticulously crafted Water-witch, with her hand resting upon her heart. Black enamel detailing and a two-tone gold and steel finish are complemented by a black braided faux leather choker.
In mythology, Water-witches are regarded as guardians of the ocean’s mysteries and are associated with the divine feminine, intuition, and emotional transformation. As spirit guides, they are believed to offer protection during periods of uncertainty and to facilitate a connection to subconscious wisdom.
