Historically, hare ears have served as sensory tools for navigating the boundaries between the physical and spiritual realms. Within magickal traditions and folklore, hare ears are regarded as talismans that enhance intuition, facilitate perception of the unseen, and provide spiritual protection. In Celtic and Irish folklore, hares are considered liminal beings capable of traversing multiple worlds.
Due to their exceptional hearing and panoramic vision, hares are associated with heightened perceptual abilities. Practitioners use these talismans to discern subtle messages, anticipate potential threats, and navigate uncertain spiritual paths safely.
These hare’s ear talismans have been carefully handcrafted during a waning moon cycle, setting them apart from ordinary charms. Sold individually and measuring 13cm long, 3cm wide, and 2cm in depth, each features a vintage brass fitting and chain, complemented by a pentacle charm, resulting in a unique artefact.
Please choose carefully from the selection options for either the right or left ear, and only one of each is available.
Here at Gypsy Red Corpse – Artefacts for the Witching Hour, we take great pride in offering ethically sourced and sustainable materials to supplement your ritual practice. We do not, in any way, support or condone the trade of poached or endangered animals or cruelty to animals. All bones are ethically sourced – death is by natural causes or a by-product of road-kill.

This antique cuff link, crafted in 835 silver, represents a traditional Bavarian hunting trophy historically worn by both men and women to attract good fortune during hunts. The integration of oak leaves and acorns with a deer hoof is characteristic of Alpine hunting jewellery and is estimated to originate from the late nineteenth century (circa 1880) to the early twentieth century (circa 1930). Incorporating the actual animal trophy, specifically the deer hoof, alongside silver representations of oak leaves and acorns, served to commemorate the hunt. Within Alpine culture, especially in Bavaria and Austria, the oak tree is regarded as the King of the Forest and symbolises a hunter's strength, endurance, and triumph. This cuff link measuring 3.2cm in length, 1.6cm in width, and 2.6cm in depth, is likely one of a pair and may represent a unique piece. The accompanying photograph depicts the actual object; only a single piece is available. Specifications Description: Traditional hunting trophy cuff link crafted from antique silver and natural deer hoof. Date: Mid-20th century, specifically the 1930s. Origin: German or Austrian hunting jewellery Materials: 835 silver mountings and natural deer hoof. Condition: Excellent and entirely original. The cuff link mechanism functions perfectly. Hallmarks: 835, RF, accompanied by two birds (resembling swallows or eagles) with a 3V integrated into the design. Makers Mark: R F is the maker’s mark for Reiner & Faig, a well-known German manufacturer based in Pforzheim, Germany, which was a historic hub for jewellery production. Operating primarily during the mid-20th century (roughly the 1920s through the 1950s), the firm specialised in high-quality traditional Alpine jewellery (Trachten) and silver accessories. Silver Purity: Reiner & Faig pieces are most frequently found with the "835" stamp, which was the standard fineness for German silver of that era, particularly for durable items like charivari charms and hunting trophies. Historical records show the hare’s foot was a popular lucky charm and medicinal talisman long before the rabbit’s foot became a commercial object. Folklore blends pagan traditions, early medical beliefs, and supernatural protection rituals across cultures. In Europe, the hare’s paw was used for protection against evil and illness, venerated as a sacred messenger for its speed and nocturnal habits. The Celts believed hares, living underground, were supernatural creatures tied to the Otherworld. Inspired by this heritage, we present our hare’s foot talisman collection. These hare’s foot talismans have been carefully handcrafted during a waning moon cycle, setting them apart from ordinary charms. Each features a vintage brass fitting, adorned with a chain and a pentacle charm. This collection showcases the front paw, noted as ‘A’ in the photograph of the group of three paws. Sold individually, each measures between 7 and 8cm, with an additional 7.5cm in the chain and pentacle charm. It is the smallest in the collection. For sizes B and C, please see their individual listings.
