Antique Horn Brooch ‘Butterfly’
$125.00
Carved horn jewellery achieved significant popularity during the Art Nouveau era, serving as a deliberate response to the mass production characteristic of the Industrial Revolution. These pieces emphasized the artisan’s craftsmanship rather than the intrinsic value of the material, resulting in each item being a unique work of art.
This antique Art Nouveau brooch features a meticulously hand-carved horn insect, rendered in the form of a butterfly. The piece may be attributed to either Elisabeth Bonte (1897-1990) or Georges Pierie (1873-1943), both recognised for their contributions to the period. Although unsigned, the intricate carving demonstrates exceptional artistry. The brass knuckle fitting and C-clasp on the reverse remain functional and well-preserved. Measuring an impressive 10.5cm in length, 2.5cm at its widest point, and 1cm in depth, this rare example represents a distinguished addition to a specialised collection. Only one is available.

Hunting Trophy ‘Deer Hoof Cuff Link’
$125.00This antique cuff link, crafted in 835 silver, represents a traditional Bavarian hunting trophy historically worn by both men and women to attract good fortune during hunts. The integration of oak leaves and acorns with a deer hoof is characteristic of Alpine hunting jewellery and is estimated to originate from the late nineteenth century (circa 1880) to the early twentieth century (circa 1930). Incorporating the actual animal trophy, specifically the deer hoof, alongside silver representations of oak leaves and acorns, served to commemorate the hunt. Within Alpine culture, especially in Bavaria and Austria, the oak tree is regarded as the King of the Forest and symbolises a hunter's strength, endurance, and triumph. This cuff link measuring 3.2cm in length, 1.6cm in width, and 2.6cm in depth, is likely one of a pair and may represent a unique piece. The accompanying photograph depicts the actual object; only a single piece is available. Specifications Description: Traditional hunting trophy cuff link crafted from antique silver and natural deer hoof. Date: Mid-20th century, specifically the 1930s. Operating primarily during the mid-20th century (roughly the 1920s through the 1950s), the firm specialised in high-quality traditional Alpine jewellery (Trachten) and silver accessories. Silver Purity: Reiner & Faig pieces are most frequently found with the "835" stamp, which was the standard fineness for German silver of that era, particularly for durable items like charivari charms and hunting trophies. Lucky Grouse Foot Brooch ‘Deer Antlers’

Hunting Trophy ‘Fox Canine Brooch’
$95.00This antique brooch represents traditional Austrian hunting jewellery historically worn by both men and women to attract good fortune during hunts. The combination of fox canines and coniferous motifs, such as pine or larch, represents a balance between the hunter’s mastery over nature and a deep spiritual respect for the forest and its cycles. Historically, these teeth were worn as talismans believed to bestow the fox’s agility and stealth upon the wearer. Beyond being a trophy, animal teeth were historically worn as luck-bringing amulets to ensure success in future hunts. This 1950s Austrian hunting trophy is a rare piece. It showcases two embedded fox canines on either side of silverwork depicting local flora, either pine or larch. The hallmarks on the brooch's swing-arm clasp are illegible; possibly German silver.
